Yeah, it’s hip to be green nowadays but many would still argue that hybrids are more hype than reality due to the higher costs inherent to hybrids. First, they still use expensive batteries that can work for a specified number of charge/discharge cycles, but rapid advances in technology is fast closing the costs in that area. Second, it would be like getting converted to another faith for it does take a lot of commitment to go green.
There is a very enticing prospect when it comes to purchasing a hybrid though, very low Insurance costs (due to government subsidies to encourage more people to go green). And even some Tax credits that does not only saves you money in the long run but help out ole’ Mother Earth, making it last for future generations to come.
